The second Symposium on Seed Health in Agricultural Development

The second Symposium on Seed Health in Agricultural Development (SHAD) will be held at the Asian Seed Health Centre, University of Mysore, Mysore India from June 9-13, 2008. It is organized by the Danish Seed Health Centre for Developing countries, Asian Seed Health Centre and the African Seed Health Centre. This is a biannual event. The First symposium was held at the African Seed Health Centre, Sokoine University of Agriculture, Morogoro, Tanzania April 6-8,2006. Those interested please join us in Mysore and be updated with the state-of-the art information on seed health and Agricultural Development.

Nematology Course for Agricultural Inspectors in Eastern Africa

This course is organized by the Nematology Iniciative for Eastern and Southern Africa (NIESA) and will be offered in August 2008. Participants of the course will come from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe. A total of 30 participants will attend the course.

Short course on Seed Pathology and Seed Health Technology

This two weeks course will be offered from 1-12 September 2008, in collaboration with the Asian Vegetable Research and Development Centre (AVRDC). AVRDC has established the world Vegetable Seed Health and Marketing Support unit based at the Vegetable and Ornamental Plant Institute, Pretoria, South Africa. Participants of the course will come from Madagascar, Mali, Cameroon and Tanzania. A total of 14 participants will be trained.

Publications

Staff at the African Seed Health Centre in collaboration with scientists from the Danish Seed Health Centre and other institutions have published a number of publications which are available at the Centre for Reference. The list of publications will be posted on the website soon.
